Tony Robbins once said, “The quality of your life is a direct reflection of the quality of the questions you’re asking yourself.”

And you know what, he’s right!

Over my years of undergoing my own personal growth and development, as well as coaching hundreds of people through theirs, I’ve come to believe that those who are able to really change their lives, are the ones who asked better questions.

Think about interrogators – what makes some better than the rest? The questions they ask!

While everyone else is asking basic level questions, the “winners” in life – those who create and live the lives they actually want – ask deeper questions. Questions that cause them to really grow.

Well… one area of life where asking great questions really comes into play is finding your purpose.

If you’ve been around here long, you know that I am obsessed with this topic, and love helping people figure out exactly how they can find their purpose in life.

The other day, I heard the amazing Jay Shetty talking about this exact topic, and knew it was something I had to share with you.

He mentioned 3 questions that you can ask yourself to help you tap into and discover your purpose.

To find out what these life changing questions are, keep reading.

3 Questions That’ll Change Your Life

What Am I good at?

The first question that you should ask yourself in order to change your life and find your purpose is, “What am I good at?”

The reason why, is because it makes you tap into your God-given or self-developed talents.

So often, the reason people feel like they’re not walking down the right path in life is because… THEY’RE NOT!

They’ve been ignoring or neglecting the very things that can change their lives – the gifts, talents, or skills they have.

They spend so much time trying to “find” something that has existed within all along.

If you’re feeling lost and looking to change your life, start by leaning into what you’re already good at.

What Do I Love Doing?

The second questions you need to ask yourself if you’re ready to change your life is, “What do I love to do?”

For a lot of people, admitting that they’re good at something is a real struggle. For whatever reason, this self-deprecating culture we live in just blocks their ability to own the fact that they are the bees knees at some particular thing.

Also, you may be really good at something, but not want to spend your days fully committed to doing whatever that is.

If you fit either of those descriptions, focusing on what you love doing may give you the direction you need.

Think about what it is that you’d never get tired doing or learning about. What’s something that you’d be willing to put in early mornings or late nights in order to be involved in?

Figuring out what you love to do can take you another step deeper into changing your life.

What Does The World Need?

When I was listening to that interview with Jay Shetty, he said something that rocked my world. He said, “Your passion becomes a purpose when you use it in the service of others.”

BOOM!

I knew that to be true intuitively, but I had never heard it verbalized that way. And it’s so freakin’ true!

We are communal creatures. Meaning that, we are meant to be in relationship with other people. Your purpose, therefore, is going to be something that allows you to positively impact others.

That’s why an important question you must ask yourself when you’re trying to change your life and find your purpose is, “What does the world need?”

How to use this information to change your life

Knowledge without application is useless.

It does you no good to know something if you don’t actually use what you know in some way.

When it comes to the information that you discover from the 3 questions above, you need to actually use it in order to change your life and find your purpose.

Here’s what you should do:

First, go through and answer the first 2 questions on a sheet of paper. Yes, you actually need to bust out pen and paper and write down your answers to those questions.

Then see if there are any similarities between the two lists – this should be a clue that you’re onto something.

Once you’ve done that, answer question 3 through the lens of what you’re good at and/or love to do.

It does you no good to know what the world needs if you’re not in a position to be able to or want to impact it.

So focus on the things the world needs that you are actually interested in and have the giftings to affect.

Once you do that, use that information to go out and start taking action. You’ve given yourself all the information you need to figure out what your purpose MIGHT be. The rest of the clarity you’re seeking is going to be found by getting out and doing.

Answer these questions then take action, and you’ll definitely be able to change your life.
